Learn Evangelism the easy way
All you need are three Steps
Learn to share the Gospel with “3 Steps in Personal Evangelism” the bare basics. If you know these, all you need is the courage to trust that God will be with you while you are sharing His Good News.
Step 1: Start a Conversation
If you want to reach people with the Gospel, you have to first get their attention. Then, listen carefully and find a point of contact. You can use a question or suggestion in your conversation to figure out the person’s standpoint. Start your conversation with something out of everyday life. Ask a good question, like:
- “Have you ever heard that God loves you?”
- “May I tell you about the best thing that ever happened to me?”
- “Do you know for sure that you will go to Heaven one day?”
YOUR STORY
You can share your personal story in three main points.
- What did your life look like without Jesus?
- How did you get to know Jesus?
- What has changed in your life since then?
You could also share how you found a purpose and meaning for your life, how you received peace, or how God healed you.
Step 2: Share the Gospel
God loves me
It was God’s plan from the beginning to be friends with mankind. Mankind lived in peace and harmony with God.
“God saw all that he had made, and it was very good.” – Genesis 1:31
I am separated from god
Since mankind decided to go his own way and turn away from God, we can see the results of that decision. Instead of being able to live in peace and harmony, we experience hate, jealousy, sickness and wars. The worst danger we face is eternal condemnation in Hell. That is not what God desires for us. The different religions we have in the world are desperate attempts to rid us of our sin and guilt, but none could reconcile us to God.
“There’s nobody living right, not even one. …” – Romans 3:10
Jesus died for me
God is holy and just and cannot simply ignore our sins. But because He loves us so much, He had the perfect plan to redeem us, giving all mankind the opportunity to restore his relationship with Him.
God showed this love by sending his only begotten Son, Jesus Christ, into our world. Jesus died on the cross for everyone, taking the punishment for our guilt upon himself. On the third day, Jesus rose from the dead. He is alive today and forever, and through faith in him, all who believe have eternal life and peace with God.
“For God so loved the world, that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish, but have eternal life.” – John 3:16
My decision
Our good deeds are not enough to get us into heaven. There is only one way – repenting from our sins and accepting Jesus Christ as our personal Lord and Savior.
“If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.” – Romans 10:9
Step 3: Lead a person to Christ
The decision to follow Jesus is the most important decision in life. Ask that person if he would like to accept Jesus as his Lord and Savior. Pray this simple prayer together with him:
PRAYER
“Lord Jesus, I believe you are the Son of God. I believe that you died for my sins. Please forgive me of my sins and come into my life. I believe that you rose again from the dead and are alive today. I receive you as my Lord and Savior. I will follow you for the rest of my life. Amen.”
NEXT STEPS
To help him grow in faith, share with him about some of the most important aspects of the Christian life, which are: living righteously, praying regularly, reading and meditating on the Word of God, sharing his faith in Christ with others, and having fellowship with other Believers.
